Tuesday: The Ritual of the Brave Word

Did you notice which door you were watching yesterday? Don’t worry if the answer surprised you — it usually does. The Moon’s day shows us things gently. Tuesday is not so gentle, and I say that with love.

Today’s love energy. Tuesday belongs to Mars in the old planetary calendar — the day of courage, heat, and the first move. What I see in Tuesday’s energy is a door that opens only from your side. The pattern suggests that things left unsaid grow heavier on a Tuesday than any other day of the week, and things finally spoken grow lighter almost instantly. This is not the day for grand confessions — please don’t send anything at midnight, that’s not courage, that’s Mars misfiring. This is the day for one small, clean, brave word.

Your ritual: The Brave Word. Three steps. You’ll need a piece of paper and a pen.

1. Write the sentence you’ve been carrying. The one you’d say to a particular person if there were no consequences — or the one you need to say to yourself. Write it exactly as it lives in you, unpolished. No one will ever see this paper.

2. Read it out loud, once, to the empty room. Stand up if you can. Mars’s day responds to the spine. Notice what your body does when the words leave you — where they catch, where they release. That catch is information. Remember where it lives.

3. Fold the paper twice and put it away somewhere dark — a drawer, a book, a coat pocket. You are not discarding the words; you are letting them rest. Some brave words are meant to be delivered and some are meant only to be freed, and the pattern suggests you’ll know which kind yours is by Friday. Don’t decide today.

Your reflection for today. Carry this with you: What is the sentence you’ve rehearsed the most times in your life — and who taught you it wasn’t safe to say it?

Notice that second half. The rehearsing was never the problem, dear one. Somewhere along the way, someone convinced your voice it needed permission. Mars’s day is for noticing whose permission you’re still waiting on.

Before I go. Tomorrow is Wednesday — Mercury’s day — and Mercury governs messages, crossings, and words that travel. It is, in my experience, the likeliest day of the week for unexpected communication: the name that pops up, the message you didn’t see coming. Tomorrow’s ritual prepares your hands to receive rather than reach. It’s a subtle one, and one of my favorites.
